| About Crosswater Systems
Navigating uncharted waters posed difficulties in any
period of time. In the 16th century, the race to the spice
islands*) required Dutch and
English expeditions to rely on primitive instruments. A
cross staff was used to measure height of sun at noon and
thereby determine latitude. Most navigational equipment was
only useful in bright sunshine, however, use of the cross
staff in bright sunshine could damage the user's eye. The
instrument was subsequently refined as the back staff, which
did not require the user to look directly at the sun.
Today, the navigation of the world wide web requires
different sets of instruments. While search engines offer
highly developed technology to retrieve information, the
user's eye and mind may still suffer damage from too many
search results and web resources.
Crosswater Systems is dedicated to assist surfers by
providing web guides on a selected range of topics. These
contain links and web resources which have been evaluated,
reviewed and structured to allow the surfer a pre-selection
of his next destination.
